It is normal that user are visiting website and they ask you to provide some sort of information such as User profile and sometimes asking you to create an account and ask for username / password.

when you see a size, asking for username password but without https below? There is very high risk of identity/ information theft as you are sending Encrypted data from your computer to the Online Server. Any people can intercept what you entered . such as your name, addresss , phone number and even your password.

There are many type of SSL  certificated out there, depending on the secure mindset of the eCommerce, Website owners have for their users. At least a usual Comodo Positive SSL usually at around USD4.00 should help website owner secure the website data transmission between the users.

Others, may include Company validation to proof and confirm the identity  of the website owners .

Beware the next time you are visiting website without a Online SSL cetifications (HTTPs) such as above and asking you to enter the data. You are at higher risk.
